On January 15, 2026, we were welcomed by members of the Battery Gadsden Cultural Center for their monthly speaker series on Sullivan’s Island. Visit https://batterygadsden.org to find about more of their exciting upcoming events!

Tracey shared insight into her book, Beacon of the Lowcountry, and her plans to honor her father’s legacy by donating art to benefit local nonprofit organizations. She was joined by Cheri Yates, Executive Director of Friends of Charleston National Parks, to announce that two original Jim Booth paintings, Fort Sumter and Sullivan’s Island Light, are for sale to benefit Friends of Charleston National Parks. Contact Tracey or Cheri for more information. Cheri also described many wonderful plans for the celebration of America250 throughout the year. Visit https://www.friendscnp.org for more information.

On November 12, 2025 we were warmly welcomed by North Charleston Mayor Burgess Book to celebrate the launch of the recently-released book, Beacon of the Lowcountry, at The Admiral’s House.

We displayed original artwork as well as photographs and Jim’s memorabilia that was pictured in the book. Jim’s daughter, Tracey Booth Owens, and acclaimed photographer Rick Rhodes recalled memories with Jim and about creating the book together. The City gave guided tours of the home and its history, a landmark close to Jim’s heart and the scene of one of his paintings. Collectors, friends, and community gathered to celebrate Jim’s life, art, and enduring legacy in Charleston’s history.
